  1. Prediction: He’ll be a sub. Come in soon after halftime like the match versus Cruz Azul. Messi wants to play, but Tata will have to pull the brakes a bit. 4 matches in 12 days is crazy in pro soccer. Casual fans don’t understand that. The Inter Miami has a Wed and Sun match after RBNY.

  2. There's somthing called rest period for players. He's 36 and just played 120+ min match. It's to ensure he doesn't get injured.

Also, he played at wembley, camp nou, bernabeu….etc, nyc stadium or whatever it's called is NOWHERE close to them.

  3. Can Stephen A. stick to basketball and basketball. It’d be good to grow the game in America but it’s gonna be annoying hearing people who never watched soccer begin talking like they’re experts lol

  4. (I am a FCB fan for life. A Context to my comment)

So as he left the FCB not in the clear decline was a brilliant move by Miami. Also every American should get the opportunity to watched him in a game.
New York is really the Mecca.

As a coach, I would still have him to make at least 20 minutes

  5. Really now, Messi's already been exposed to the entire world for the past 20 years, where have you been? What is New York to him? afaik he can do whatever the F he wants

Having said that, I think Martino will use him as a sub

  6. how provincial is stephen a ? messi is global, as in billion fans. what’s the entire population of new york city ? 11 million ? please learn the difference between a billion and a million. messi does not need new york mls bush league to raise his profile. you need to kowtow to his majesty junior. pfft

  7. well, you considering sitting down if you actually want to get to the playoffs. Why should Messi care about New York? Not even a football city…
The only reason to start the game would be because it is his first Mls game. Crazy i mean he played like how many games 7 to 9 games in the last month …Without preseason training, won them already a cup, helped them qualify for Concacaf champions league, put them into the finals of an other cup. Statisticlly he already gave miami all they need for next season or year… Didnt this guy question some weeks ago Messis fitness and that he will tired… Messi won them the cup and put them into the final. It would be a good moment to rest the three elite players and put some work for the rest of them and some of the new players that havent had much time to play…

  8. 33 grados, humedad insoportable, 9 partidos seguidos, todos cansadisimos..Asi y todo Inter lo dio vuelta y Messi dio 2 asistencias…A comerla y sigan llorando😅😅😅

  9. I guess this Stephen guy doesn't understand the world doesn't giv a flying f about MLS until Messi. You are getting this traction because of him. If he needs to rest he will rest. Screw New York and your " exposure" He was exposed for a long time.

  10. Messi is not here to entertain americans. He is here to have a vacation and retire in peace. While playing games every now and then. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  11. Never seen organizations go out of their way so much to script a narrative. lol the MLS needs Messi to win to help their narrative and get more people to watch the shitty MLS. All scripted and setup. All these made up cups that no one has ever heard about ever. Disgusting the length money makers will go to pocket people’s money. Tried watching one of the games and it was obvious when one of the defenders didn’t even bother to run and defend.

  12. Can someone please explain to me how this league works? I don’t watch soccer. I thought they just won some Cup. Why are there more games?
Also, why is there 3 more games?

  13. Fyi Stephen A., Messi has played in New York several times in his career in matches more important than MLS (Copa America final and friendly against Brazil both at (sold out) MetLife Stadium). So there's no need for him to be "exposed" in the Big Apple.
Ffs Stephen A. stop humiliating yourself by talking about things you don't understand.

  14. Messi doesn't have to prove jack to anyone…Dude is the GOAT of all GOATS…no American athlete can conpare to MESSI. Messi is world wide…these American Athletes are local.

  15. Doesn't ESPN know that unless he's talking about basketball, Stephen A's hot takes are usually trash. Seriously, don't let the man talk about any other sports. If the man knew who even Messi was, he would not have used the word 'exposed' in his take at all

  16. People in the comments can't take a joke. Messi doesn't need you to defend him in the comments every time someone mentions his name; he can do just fine without you. I know you think you are doing him a favor and that you two have a special connection, but I'm here to tell you that's an unhealthy obsession you're using to fill another void in your life. Many of you will be angry reading this, but the biggest favor you can do for the guy is to let him live his life in peace.

  17. Who’s gonna tell Stephen A Smith ? …..like if Messi need NYC media to be recognized 😂😂😂😂 Messi is world 🌍 wide … poor Stephen is so blind about accepting the fact the Messi is the most important Athlete in the world

  18. Messi has never and i mean never sat out a game willingly. Also stephen A this aint basketball. This is football. The real football. Load management does not exist

  19. This guy actually thought he had more followers than Messi. He don’t give af about NY lmfao he literally had more followers on insta than the population of USA

  20. Football is a team game, what's interesting is how Messi in a month was able to improve the mentality, capacity, quality and chemistry of the Miami players until they became champions, even though they were always behind at first.

  21. Crazy to see so many casual fans and the comments on Ronaldo. I’ve been watching both and they’re both aliens. No matter what your personal preference is, both are the best to ever do it. Maradona is only close to them at 3rd place.

  22. Stephan A Smith got no reason to talk when NBA Stars like Kawhi Leonard play every other Year also acting like he needs to get his name out when he’s the Most Famous Person in The World 😭🤷🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

  23. Messi is the only player who plays chess on the football field, what he plans requires a lot of intelligence, Haaland, Mbappe, Ronaldo and other players just kick the ball around… that's why Messi is great, the best and unsurpassed…
