Meet Messi the Puma, now unlike most big cats that exist in the wild or in zoos, this big cat, lives in a 1 bedroom apartment in Russia.

Messi was born in captivity at a zoo in Russia, but suffered from various health problems at just three months old. During his stay at the zoo, Messi was kept in a very small enclosure and was malnourished, which caused him to develop muscle weakness, rickets which is a degenerative bone disease and a urinary tract infection.

The zoo decided that because pumas were not native to Russia, they could not simply release it into the wild, and because of it’s illnesses, that prevented him from living in another zoo or animal sanctuary. So they had planned to euthanize him.

A couple by the name of Aleksandr and Mariya Dmitriev, heard about the sickly cub, and after talking with other puma breeders and learning everything about the maintenance and care of the animal, they took a leap of faith and approached the zoo about adopting it. And to their surprise, the zoo agreed!

Fun Fact: Despite their large size, cougars are actually more closely related to house cats than they are to other large cat species like jaguars and tigers.

Cougars, also commonly referred to as puma or mountain lion, and are members of the Felidae family.

Pumas are native to the Americas, and they are the largest feline species on these continents, with males being up to 2.4 m (7.9 ft) long from head to tail and weighing up to 100 kg (220 lb).Messi is unlike most cougars, he is about half the size of a normal adult male because of his health conditions. The owners also point out that he is very gentle and loving.

Thanks for watching.

  1. I have 12 Siberian tigers and 4 jaguars and trust me they all love me one of my tiger weighs 987 kg and my biggest jaguar 549 kg after this video I might consider buying a puma

  2. This is such bullshit. I’m glad they saved him, but if they want to think of his well-being, they need to find a sanctuary for him. As for his being a per, I have to ask, so is he neutered? I mean, if you’re going to pretend he’s just a pet, then ensure his behavior is curbed. A neutered big cat is safer than one that’s not.

  3. After forming this attachment to this couple, I hope Missy doesn't have to go through the pain of separation and can continue living with them until the end of her days.

  4. This is a crock of crap. The whole "we saved him from having to be put down" thing is exactly the same as the story put forward by the other Russian big cat YouTubers. Big cats are in vogue as pets for the the Russian nouveau rich. It's not humane and it shouldn't be allowed.

  5. I think this is just amazing..she looks so happy ..and well loved ..such a beautiful cat .as a cat owner i will say cata always pick there favorite owner will love everyone but will pick there favorite…

  6. I love watching this cat and his family. I started watching yesterday and already have watched many videos. I love cats of all kind and I love seeing how much he is loved and cared for.

  7. The animal rights people should be more concerned about the inhumane treatment and neglect this beautiful and adorable animal suffered as a kitten in the zoo instead of making a big deal about someone adopting him and keeping him at home. Does it bother them in the slightest that this cat would have been euthanized if they left it with the zoo? Are they so stupid that they can't figure out that your cat wouldn't last more than a couple of days in the wild with all of his health issues?

Life in the wild is extremely brutal, even for apex predators.

  8. If he's living a happy life, he's exactly where he should be. As long as he gets to play frequently, he will be satisfying his instincts. Nothing wrong with a mountain lion that can't survive in the wild learning that it loves the domestic cat life

  9. 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

  10. At this point, it would be cruel to send Messi to an animal sanctuary. Messi would be so confused and lost, and probably heart broken to be away from his family. He has such a wonderful life, and I think he's perfectly content where he is.

  12. The owners of Messi have a youtube channel with a lot of videos. All are fun to watch in my opinion. Messi loves his adopted parents. But it only takes a couple of minutes into pretty much any of the videos. To see his dad's his absolute center of Messi's universe. I don't speak a single word of Russian. But you don't have to speak or even understand a single word of it. To see how much his mom and dad adore their four legged children. It's truly on another level and awesome knowing theirs really good people out there. In terms of loving their pets.

  13. I think when you give an animal lots of love and affection they learn from that. They bond with you. I trained a young aggressive Nutriea. 2 months later he was a happy go lucky guy. Very friendly.

  14. How cool is it that this big cat purrs and is really smart. I have a wonderful time enjoying the fun provided by this critter and could only hope that he continues to be a great animal and hope he can do all of this song. Wow!!! How wonderful is he? Great stuff and I hope he stays awesome!!! Yup! ❣️🤓

  16. is their love really unconditional? or are the conditions that you know them from birth, are their primary food provider and you change your life completely to accommodate for them?

  17. You know what’s strange to me that it all depends on the people and their will. Also the animal itself.

If the big cat head can live a life with this specific family then let it.

  18. Dude… the only reason we have dogs is because a human took a risk and made friends with a wolf. Why are we no longer allowed to be part of nature and the planet? It's ridiculous how everyone ushers us to be "business" ppl.

Guess what. Don't wanna. If I can save an animal, I'm doing it. There is a difference between laws of man and laws of god.

  19. 4.10 ignore those stupid westerners, its westerners is why today society has gone down the toilet, who are you to dictate what animals can be: "eaten/not eaten/domesticated/not domesticated/certain animals MUST be released into the wild……unless we want to open a zoo. The hypocrisy of the west is mind boggling

  20. It’s surprising that a zoo would malnourish a Puma. Shame on them! I’m really glad that such a caring couple were able to adopt him. I have been subscribed to their channel and enjoy watching them frequently. Sending lots of hugs and love 💕
